2021 Training Plan (update)

As noted in an earlier (now deleted post), 2021 was difficult to size up for training cycles and periodization. My training plan has been tweaked as much as I can make it without having an actual crystal ball. The practice training sessions are posted up to Week 20 and I've included stat and my holidays as well as any and all local regattas I could find that may occur. The remaining practices will be created and entered during my March break. Several tips on how to read the Training Plan:

- The weeks start on Tuesdays (and Week 1 was this week).

- If I forget to put the practice out (like I did today!!), you can find the workouts on row 34

- Row 14 indicates how many minutes of training you should aim for on any given week

- Rows 9-13 indicates the number of workouts per week (which would include any strength&conditioning; bike rides; skiing; etc.)

- Rows 3-7 indicates what categories of intensity we are aiming for. The coloured bars (arranged in rows) show the progression of intensity as we approach our various races/seasons. The actual table is on the second spreadsheet (see tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet)

If you have questions, see me on the dock or give me a call.

REMINDER for your 30 minute warm up for practices or racing - there are three stages for the warm up:

1) technical / SS with focus on blade work efficiency i.e. no missing water at the catch, the blade exits the water without any drag + power pieces)

2) R20/24/28 (focus on pushing onto the foot plate and accelerating the seat at the given rate)

3) higher rates R32 (coordination of the handle and the seat at the catch) with each piece about 12 strokes.
