IMPORTANT ITEMS for review

A few items have been "a brewin" between your coaches for the past couple of months. Brewin' is in the positive sense here, so don't be alarmed.

Over the past 3 years our program has enjoyed great success with improved health in our community of rowers, conditioning and technical gains and slowly but surely a steady increase in the number of race wins. We started out with a healthy ~65 active members in 2011 and our program (Sat and Sun) has grown to 87 this year! I should take pause and thank everyone for helping make our program the success that it is and also underscore the great improvement in our crews' abilities at handling on-water tasks such as bowing, time trials, and collision avoidance throughout the season.

Due to our success (and the success of both Richard and Angus' program, I should mention) we will be seeing a forecasted 30 new Novice members join our ranks this fall. That will place our total numbers somewhere north of 100 (no my math isn't that bad, I'm thinking about attrition) which prompts the discussion of SPACE! If you haven't already seen it, there will be a doodle-poll circulating for erg-sessions starting next week. Please sign up to reserve your spot. There will be a 2 week period in early November that will be classified as "OFF" as your bodies need to 'reset' and you deserve the time to just plain relax and have that second glass of wine. Keep your eyes peeled for that posting.

It is important to note that the 'new masters' will be divided (most likely not evenly) between Sat and Sun so please do your best and welcome them into our time-slot(s). We will also most likely see a 3rd flight of erg training happen on Tues/Thurs evenings. Your coaches will be there to run the sessions as required.

In addition to erg sessions, cross training in the form of trail running, hiking, snowshoeing and skiing will take place this year as offered in previous years. I'd really like to keep the team focused through November and December this year so Bootcamp will also be offered as well. Henry and Cleo have scoped out some great trails on the North shore this summer and they are hounding us to keep up the tempo this fall and winter. Keep your eyes posted for these items here on the bulletin board.

Lastly, I am planning to hold two meetings coming up, one to welcome the new masters into the fold (Nov) and the other to outline the plan for the 2015 racing season. During this meeting (Jan) your coaches will be setting crews (P3) and training expectations as well.

In the matter of a week 2 crews and 2 single rowers will be heading off to Boston to race at the storied regatta Head of the Charles. If you are unfamiliar with it please copy this link. http://www.hocr.org

They probably don't need an introduction but here are the crews. Make sure to take a moment and wish them well.
