Rowing news for early 2020

Hello Rowers,

I'm happy to announce that I have been arranging a few more learning opportunities for our masters rowers coming soon.

Socially, on Saturday, December 28, at 12 noon (to 2) we have invited Delta Deas RC to row at our club with us. This is a great opportunity for rowers intent on competing at the US Masters in Oakland in August to get to know our sister club, Delta Deas. Not only are these rowers some of our toughest competition on the water, they also combine easily with us to form very fast composite crews. The December 28 row will be a fun, get to know one another row. I ask you to sign up HERE before the cut-off date of December 14 as I need to know numbers (generally) for the club's bar personnel (food, etc.) If you have any questions, email me or see me on the dock.

An opportunity I will be announcing later in December is a 'fireside chat' with Dr. Sue Ironside about the mental game involved in racing. This will likely occur in January and be an occasion for us all to talk about what it takes to race to win. Dr. Sue Ironside has raced in marathons, triathlons, and Ironman races. Her experience in race psychology comes from years of experience in racing. She is also one of the two chiropractors at Westside Chiropractic Clinic being Dr. Sue Ironside and Dr. Derek Porter.

I am working with Coach Leigh Holyoak to book her for two sessions early in the new year and I'm in conversation with Coach Maksym Kepskyy to see if he can host another tank session in the new year. So - keep your eyes on this space and keep erging with intensity. Next year is going to be fun.

Coach Carolyn Thompson
