Hope everyone had a great time enjoying Captain's Dinner event last night, relaxing a bit from the workouts and raining days.
On the other note, next week is going to be fulfilling with few exciting tests : )
Day 1) 2km R26 max pressure. Warm up for 25': 15' steady states @ 2k+22", then power pieces @ R18, 22, 26, - 20" for each piece with 90" of light erging in between. Do again power piece for 40" at R26 again somewhere at the last couple min of the warm up. Rest for 3min, then 2k @ R26. In case if you need something to aim for, the variation of the goal split could be at your BS (base split from 20min test) - 3-5 seconds.
Day 2) 20' R24 max split. You goal is to challenge the split from the previous test.
Day 3) 1min test open rate. Come to the club 15-20min prior the practice to complete the test, so that we have it done before getting on water. After the test, we'll have a meeting at 8:10am and then we'll go on water.
Practice on water: Technical work till 9:20pm. Focus of the session: to minimize catch slip i.e. the amount of distance that blade covers going from the full catch angle to the moment when it's fully covered in the water. Three components to be focused on:
- The mechanics of the blade placement (subcomponents: timing to initiate squaring; continuing moving handle forward to place the blade in the water.
- Coordination between blade placement and applying pressure on the foot plate (starting to apply legs onto the foot place at the bottom of the blade touches surface of the water)
Please let me know if there is any technical questions. Feel free to drop a question here for an open discussion.
