The month of August is getting closer to the end and the first regatta in September is coming up soon.
I hope you have a chance to practice more in small boats to work on individual technical aspects. Also the first erg test, as i mentioned last time in the blog is going to be in the first week of September, so make sure you spend some time these days practicing on the erg.
And for now, the training program for the current week is below:
Day 1) Steady states with bungie cords R18, power 10 at R24 for every 500m. Take bungie off for the last 10 of the practice.
Day 2) Warm up. (For the warm up spend first 10min of light rowing to activate cardio, breathing, relaxing muscles. Work for another 10min on technique i.e. blade clearance at the finish, upright body position through the drive, maintaining strong finish angle by engaging core. You can also do drills like feet out of the foot stretcher or simply static roll up drills at the seawall etc.... Spend another 10-15min doing power pieces at R18/24/28 and open rate, 2 x 8-10 strokes for each rate set.
